Search For New Head of School
It is with a true sense of excitement that I announce, on behalf of the Board of Trustees, that David Provost will be joining our community on July 1, 2012 as our next Head of School. He has the unanimous and enthusiastic support of the Board of Trustees and Search Committee.
Dave has joined us on campus for two visits. Thank you to each of you who took the time to meet him and provide feedback through the surveys. The support you voiced for him was clear and resounding.
Dave’s belief in child centric education matches the GUS philosophy. The Board believes that this shared philosophy coupled with his credentials and general persona make him the right choice to be our next Head of School. Dave received his B.A. from Union College and his M.Ed. from Lesley University. He will be joining us after serving as Head of School for the Nantucket New School for the last eight years. His experience in independent schools goes beyond that, however, having previously served as a classroom teacher and in various administrative roles. Dave is also a professional musician.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Search Committee for the many hours they spent during this nationwide search. They have served us very well. I would encourage you to thank them for their efforts when you see them around campus. The committee was chaired by Sandy McGrath and included: Kathleen Bracken, John Corcoran, Libby Delana, Cathy Lange, Jennifer Mallette, Lisa Romanelli, Bruce Shaw, and Richard Tadler.
Dave is excited about joining the GUS community. He has articulated passion for the GUS educational philosophy and excitement for advancing the school in its mission. We look forward to welcoming Dave and his family to our community next summer.
