Louise Cornetta, Glen Urquhart School Alum (class of 1983), ESPN Audio broadcaster, writer for The Mag, or ESPN: The Magazine and ESPNBoston.com came to GUS on May 3, 2013 to talk with upper school students about her professional journey and her passion for sports.

Many of the students were inspired by the fact that she overcame adversity and succeeded in a male-dominated profession. Equally as impressive was the list of athletes that she has interviewed and met in her career, including Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Mike Trout, David Ortiz, and many more Red Sox and Celtics players.

Both were recipients of Honorable Mention Awards. The contest has grown in popularity since its inception and drew over 700 entries from students in grades 6-12. Grace and Nick read their poems in front of an audience of 150 people, and were treated to a reception for poets and their families after the reading.

Spring Work Day

Saturday, May 4, 2013 9:00 AM–3:00 PM

Lunch provided.

No rain date! No snow date!

This is a fun opportunity to roll up your sleeves, build community, and get into the nitty-gritty! Everyone can do something. There will be painting, raking, mulching, carpentry work, shoveling, weeding, and much, much more! We need small pick-up trucks, wheel barrows, chain saws, and operators. If the day is canceled, you will receive an e-mail blast or phone call from the school. Working kids are encouraged to join in on the fun! If you signed up through the summer volunteer forms, you will be contacted. Thank you and see you there!
