Gretchen Forsyth Begins Term as Interim Head of Glen Urquhart School
Additional faculty members join interim administrative support team for school year 2019-2020
Glen Urquhart School is pleased to announce that Gretchen Forsyth is now acting interim head of school for the 2019-2020 school year. Forsyth takes on the role after nine years at Glen Urquhart School (GUS) and 17 years of administrative experience. She holds an A.B. from Bowdoin College, an MSW from Boston College, and an M.A. in Educational Leadership from the Teachers College, Columbia University’s Klingenstein Private School Leadership program.
“We look forward to working with Gretchen and the entire GUS faculty and staff to continue the traditions of providing unique and quality educational programs and services to the school’s students and families,” said Dr. George T Balich, president of the board of trustees.
“I am excited to work with our amazing faculty and dedicated board to ensure continued momentum over the next year," Gretchen Forsyth, interim head of school. “This is an exciting moment for the GUS community and we see this as a time of significant growth and development, building off of the work that has been done over the past few years, specifically with our long range strategic plan. As always, GUS is moving forward and I am honored to lead the school through this interim period.”
To assist Interim Head Forsyth in the upcoming academic year the following faculty members will assume new responsibilities: Cori Russo, interim dean of students, Sarah Bailes, interim assistant dean of students, and Maureen Twombly, interim director of curriculum. Preschool Director Emily Rabinowitz-Buchananan will expand her duties to include support for grades 1-5, and join interim director Twombly and faculty members Christopher Doyle and Christine Draper on the curriculum committee. Additionally, Bre-Anne Brandt, school counselor, will become full-time for the 2019-2020 academic year.
