As part of their study of prehistoric people, Dr. Draper took the sixth graders into the conservation land adjacent to the school to ask whether the stone rows and other structures might be part of a Native American ceremonial stone landscape. These students are standing on a high knob of bedrock which, if the trees were cleared, would have a view of the sea, as well as several other similar bedrock hills nearby. Next week they will go on a field trip to a recently discovered prehistoric solar observatory on Pole Hill in Gloucester.
