Fourth Grade Lighthouse Projects
Fourth graders presented their much anticipated lighthouse projects this week. As part of their year-long thematic study of the sea, the students learn about the history of life on and alongside oceans. Each student chose a New England lighthouse, researched its history and architecture, and built a novel and stately replica. The students wrote a detailed research paper and planned additional talking points for their individual presentations. Among the highlights they shared: lighthouses that employed some of the first women keepers, lighthouses with annoying fog horns, and a Boston lighthouse that was haunted—and allegedly visited by ghost hunters! The projects are on display over the next several weeks.
