Alumni Profile: Steph Krim '04

Q+A with Steph Krim '04

What was one of your most meaningful or memorable GUS experiences?

I loved exploring on the nature trail. It felt like a big outside scavenger hunt. I remember looking for salamanders and finding tadpoles in the water. I love being outside and I think it always brings back a little of the feeling I had when I was exploring at GUS!

Where are you now, and what are you doing?

I live in Chicago with my partner, Tyler, our 1 year old, Theo and our two dogs. I have a creative vending machine business, Good Things Vending, selling art and nostalgia out of traditional snack vending machine. The project was just featured on Chicago PBS (WTTW).

In what ways do you feel GUS prepared you for what you're doing now?

GUS always encouraged exploration and play!

Any words of advice for current GUS students?

Get comfortable with getting things wrong, messing stuff up and having to start over. It’s where I have found all the coolest and most interesting parts of life.

Fun Fact

I can still play Mary had a little lamb on the recorder!
