8th Grade Class Gift 2023

Seeking to create a lasting and meaningful expression of the school's motto, "Mean Well, Speak Well, Do Well" we have made a contribution to the school’s existing “8th Grade Gift Fund” while supporting an important green initiative on campus too.

The ultimate goal of the 8th Grade Gift Fund is to have it function as a student-run foundation. A portion of the money we raised will be set aside and saved or 'endowed' for future 8th grade classes who, in turn, will add their own funds raised from their own class effort.  Students may determine whether funds are directed to efforts at GUS or to not-for-profit organizations outside of school.

Some of the money we raised from our bake sales will go towards the purchase of several Slow Release Watering Bags for Trees on campus. Given the drier winter and spring many of the trees on campus, including the weeping cherry in front of lower school, will be in need of some ongoing love and TLC. These environmentally friendly bags help conserve water because more water travels efficiently to the roots instead of water being lost to run-off. Engraved tree tags showing our graduation year, along with the genus and species of the tree, will be placed on a number of the trees.

We are grateful for the generous TLC we all received from GUS, and we want to help leave the school better than we found it.
