There is no greater compliment than to have members of the alumni community choose GUS to partner in educating their own children.

This year, we are grateful to have more alumni children at GUS than ever, with 13 current students representing 10 alumni families. Sam Bauer ’01 P’35 + Ashley Cambridge ’01 P’35 (Olive ’35)

What memory stands out most from your GUS experience?

Meeting my wife, Ashley Cambridge - and we got married at GUS 30+ years later.

What do you hope Olive will gain from her GUS experience?

Community and a broad exposure to many things that could interest her.

Fun Fact: Fellow current parents Kyle and Alissa Kekeisen P ’34 and Chasse and Katlin Osborn P ’34 were in attendance at Sam and Ashley’s GUS wedding in 2019. Also, they have a dog named Gussie!

Jordan Becker ’02 P ’29 ’31 (Isabelle ’29 + Lincoln ’31)

What memory stands out most from your GUS experience?

This is a tough one! I don't think I could possibly cite just one, but could bring it down to my top 3:

Mrs. Randolph's class was magical, and her leather-bound journal was legendary - to this day, I still journal regularly and have been journaling to my children since they were born.
Huzzah celebration in my 5th grade year. It was an epic celebration of traditions, music, history, and art. I had fond memories of Georgia Bills leading a parade through the GUS campus.
The Boar Cup! I love that this tradition lives on!!

What do you hope Isabelle and Lincoln will gain from their GUS experience?

I hope they discover an endless love for learning and foster the spirit of community and teamwork through their years at GUS. I am so grateful for the experience I had in my 5th-8th grade years, and I am thrilled to return to the school as a parent and to witness another generation of magic at Glen Urquhart School.

Meredith Molloy ’00 P ’35 (Poppy ’35)

What memory stands out most from your GUS experience?

There are so many moments inside the classroom and outside of the classroom that I hold close to me during my 9 years at GUS, but one that made an imprint on my identity - as a child then and as an adult now - was journalling in Mrs. Randolph's upper school English classes. Journalling became something that helped me navigate my way through adolescence and young adulthood, and directly ties back to my time at GUS.

What do you hope Poppy will gain from her GUS experience?

GUS is such a special place to me and my family. Growing up at GUS, I was able to cultivate my curiosity, feel supported by those around me, and have confidence in my thoughts and opinions. I knew my voice mattered - and that's something that GUS taught me that I bring to my everyday life now, decades later. I hope Poppy will be able to have the same kind of experience where she can be curious, fail it forward and make mistakes that she learns and grows from, and be confident in who she is.

Jacob Stains ’02 P ’34 (Emerson ’34)

What memory stands out most from your GUS experience?

I have so many great memories of my nine years at GUS, it’s hard to choose just one. Huzzah - a celebration of GUS’s anniversary and history - immediately stands out. I also loved the many trips and adventures we took - from treks on the nature trail to journeys to Mystic Seaport and, of course, New York City.

What do you hope Emerson will gain from his GUS experience?
