GUS Institute: Climate Change

  • Glen Urquhart School 74 Hart Street Beverly United States (map)

Ninety-seven percent of climate scientists agree that climate-warming trends over the past century are extremely likely due to human activities, and most of the leading scientific organizations worldwide have issued public statements endorsing this position.*

Students will learn about the causes and effects of climate change. They will discuss and investigate ways to stop the warming of our planet. In addition to the guidance of the GUS science teachers leading this course, participants will have the opportunity to reach out to local experts who will answer their questions, help them generate a related inquiry project, and design and implement an action plan. As an inter curricular lesson they will learn effective communication skills that include writing persuasive essays and proper email etiquette, apply grade level math skills to help understand data, and include artful representation of their work and ideas.
