Standing in Solidarity with the Asian-American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Communities
We are deeply saddened by the tragic murders that took place in Georgia this week. Our hearts go out to the victims and families, and we formally stand in solidarity with the Asian-American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities.
GUS’s commitment to becoming an anti-racist educational institution remains steadfast, and we will continue to do our part to disrupt and address hate and bias in all forms. We believe it is important for GUS to acknowledge the increasing violence towards AAPI communities and, as the piece shared below from Learning For Justice states, recognize that “racial justice and anti-bias work exist beyond a Black and white binary”. We ask that you join us in this work by having developmentally-appropriate conversations with your children. To support these important conversations, please see the resources below, which include a Massachusetts Town Hall on Anti-Asian Racism. The GUS DEI Resources page also contains a number of resources for addressing racism, antiracism, and white supremacy with children of all ages. Our mission to act responsibly in the world continues to motivate and inspire us to keep marching forward towards a better tomorrow.
