Announcing Our New Head of School: Gretchen Forsyth

Dear GUS Community,

It is with great excitement that I share that the Board of Trustees has named Gretchen Forsyth as Glen Urquhart School’s next Head of School. After an extensive national search process, Ms. Forsyth was chosen from an impressive pool of candidates.

With nearly 20 years of experience in education including 10 years here at GUS, an MSW from Boston College, and an M.A. in Educational Leadership from the Teachers College, Columbia University’s Klingenstein Private School Leadership program, Ms. Forsyth is well-positioned to lead our school. Her passion for education, dedication to students, and commitment to supporting and developing faculty, will ensure our program continues to flourish. Already a passionate and dedicated member of our community, and current GUS parent, we look forward to a seamless and natural transition.

“I look forward to working with our tremendous faculty to continue to grow and evolve this school we all know and love in innovative and inspiring ways,” shared Forsyth. “I love this school, these people, and this work. Together, with the faculty and staff, with the students and alumni, with all GUS families past and present, we will accomplish great things. Most importantly, we will work to ensure the magic that is a GUS education endures long into the future.”

We are thankful to all of you for playing such an active role in this process. Strong participation and thoughtful feedback from faculty, staff, current and former parents and trustees, and alumni alike, reflects a strong and dedicated community, for which we are grateful.

I hope you will all join me in extending a warm welcome to Gretchen in her new role, effective immediately.

Trust and Go Forward,

George T Balich P’92’96
