One Small Change: Earth Day 2020
On the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, join the GUS community by making a pledge to make one small change in your life to help the earth.
Make that one switch to a reusable product, plant some pollinator friendly species, or reduce your carbon emissions. Share your GUS Pledge with the community by using #GUSearthday or sending a picture or a video to Janelle Young. We hope to have fifty pledges from our GUS teachers and families this year!
Need some ideas?
Reduce:
Replace a single use item with a reusable one- a water bottle, straw, napkin, sandwich bag, saran wrap
Buy larger containers and portion out servings instead of single use
Practice Leave No Trace principles when out in nature
Turn off the water when you brush your teeth Reduce idle time in cars
Try a biodegradable detergent
Reuse:
Repurpose single use containers around the home
Water house plants instead of emptying water bottles or other “used” water into the sink
Soak old markers in water to make your own watercolor paints
Pollinate:
Plant pollinator-friendly species in your garden
Make seed bombs
Post a “No Spray” sign
Share the bee love with your neighbors by making chalk signs on your sidewalk
Let your dandelions grow
Make a hummingbird feeder
Recycle:
Send your plastic waste to terracycle
Start composting in your house
Make a worm bin (video courtesy of Ms. Brace!)
