April Letter from HOS: Doing Better at GUS
As spring unfolds, bringing with it a sense of hope and renewal, we at Glen Urquhart School are reminded of the enduring values that shape our community and guide us towards our vision to empower a generation to do better. Environmental sustainability, DEIJ (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice), and service learning remain cornerstones of a GUS education, woven into the fabric of our curriculum and community life.
This issue of The Tartan highlights these commitments in action. Our eighth graders recently returned from a transformative service trip to Puerto Rico, an experience that deepened their understanding of global issues and their capacity for empathy and action. You'll also find a DEIJ update, reflecting our ongoing work to do better.
Much of what makes GUS so special comes down to the dedication and passion of our exceptional faculty. This year, we celebrate the remarkable careers of Patty Clark and Dawn Southworth, whose contributions have touched countless lives. Their commitment to our students and our school has been truly inspiring, and we wish them all the best in their well-deserved retirement.
We are also excited to share news from Sarah McGrath ’14, a GUS alum now serving on our board. Her journey exemplifies the lasting impact of a GUS education and the commitment to service that we strive to instill in all our students.
At Glen Urquhart School, we are committed to fostering a community where students thrive, learn, and grow, and where all are welcome. As we look forward to a bright and busy spring, we continue the important work that makes GUS such a unique and distinct learning community.
Trust and Go Forward,
